World Environment Day Celebration – 05.06.2026

In observance of World Environment Day 2026, Eden Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, joined the rest of the world in celebrating the occasion based on this year’s theme, “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.” The programme aimed to create awareness among students regarding environmental conservation and encourage responsible actions towards building a sustainable future.

The day’s activities began early in the morning with a cleanliness drive conducted in and around the school vicinity by the Eco Club members along with teacher in-charges. Students actively participated in cleaning the surroundings and spreading awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

To encourage creativity and environmental consciousness among students, painting, essay writing, poster making and slogan writing competitions were conducted for students of Classes V to XII based on this year’s theme. The competitions provided students with a platform to express their ideas, concerns and visions for a greener future.

A formal programme was held in the school chapel hall, organized by the Eco Club,EHSS . The programme started with a prayer, speeches, pledge-taking as per the directives from Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India ,Eco Clubs For Mission LiFE , video presentation -which explains the theme of WorldEnvironment Day 2026 -“Inspired by Nature, for Climate, for Our Future.” It highlights that nature already provides solutions to many environmental problems.Forests, oceans, wetlands, and plants naturally help in absorbing carbon dioxide, controlling temperature, and maintaining balance in the ecosystem. However, due to human activities like deforestation, pollution, and excessive use of resources, this natural balance is getting disturbed, leading to climate change.It emphasizes that instead of harming nature, we should learn from it and protect it. By conserving forests, planting trees, reducing waste, and using sustainable practices, we can fight climate change.and messages highlighting the significance of environmental protection and sustainable living.

A total of 197 students and 24 staff members actively participated in the pledge-taking ceremony, reaffirming their commitment towards protecting and preserving the environment.

Further, a social work activity was carried out to clean and beautify the school campus and its surroundings. Students and teachers worked together enthusiastically, reinforcing the message that protecting the environment begins with small actions within our own communities.

The celebration concluded successfully with active participation from students, teachers and staff members, making the occasion both meaningful and impactful.
